explore & restore

Women's adventure wellness retreat

Explore and restore during this retreat designed for women who crave recreation and relaxation alike. For 5 days and 4 nights, Seward becomes your adventure playground and coastal sanctuary. From your rustic, waterfront accommodations, Alaska is yours to explore right outside your back door. Kayak through fjords, hike along glaciers, wander the shoreline, and immerse yourself in the wilderness alongside other women. All while nurturing yourself through wellness rituals set in nature — with untamed, expansive, revitalizing Alaska as our backdrop.

You crave the kind of outdoor adventure that also leaves you feeling restored at the end of the day.

You love exploring wild places and you are ready to step outside of your comfort zone.

You seek a group of adventurous minded women to “go there” with
— outside, and also in.

Picture this...

You wake up to the sound of tidal waves washing up on the shoreline just steps from your rustic, waterfront cabin. Morning light filters over the mountains, inviting you into a day where effort and ease finally coexist. The only thing left to do? Whatever feels good to you.

There’s a part of you that comes alive the moment you step into the wild — the part that craves motion, discovery, and the kind of challenge that expands you. This retreat is built for that version of you. Here, Alaska isn’t just a backdrop; it’s your classroom, your playground, your catalyst. Kayak through glassy fjords, trace the contours of ancient glaciers, and wander coastlines where every turn feels like a secret revealed. These aren’t just activities — they’re invitations to reclaim your sense of awe.

Out here, adventure isn’t something you chase; it’s something you step into with both feet. Surrounded by women who share your fire, you’ll push your edges, savor the thrill of the unknown, and find yourself braver than you remembered. If your heart beats a little faster at the thought of it, that’s your sign:

It’s time to answer the call of the wild.

grounding rituals

After days filled with big, wild adventure, your evenings become a sanctuary of slow, intentional restoration. Spend time each day in guided group reflection practice to help you process the day's adventures. Optional movement and meditation will bring you back into your body, grounded and renewed. By the end of each day, you won't just feel rested — you'll  feel restored at your core, ready to explore even more.

restorative yoga

This is where you exhale fully — where warmth, stillness, and a gentle yoga practice let's you put down all that you were carrying. Settle into slow, intentional postures that melt tension and soothe tired muscles from our time together out on trail. This calming session will help your body integrate the day’s experiences, leaving you feeling balanced and nourished.

sauna and cold plunge

Imagine easing into a wood-fired sauna under the Midnight Sun as the sky softens, letting the heat unwind every mile you’ve traveled. Then, with a refreshing plunge into cold water, you reset your system in the most invigorating way possible. S'mores around the campfire warms you up again, and the cycle continues. This wild sauna experience isn't just for relaxation — it's for recalibration.

our intended agenda for your adventure wellness retreat

01

Day 1: the one where we set our course

As our fellow retreaters arrive, we'll settle in and get to know the property and each other over a local dinner spread. We'll ground in, putting aside any distractions and setting our  intentions for the week ahead. This will allow us to “be where our feet are” — a commitment we make to ourselves and each other. Continue to enjoy each others' company during a “Midnight Sun” stroll along the beach or sitting around the fire pit (optional). We'll also take time each day for guided group reflection practice and individual journal prompts.

02

day 2: the one where we find our stride

This marks our first full day of outdoor adventure, beginning with optional movement and meditation to start the day. Grab breakfast, then gear up with our 10+ essentials workshop to prepare our mind, body, and backpacks for the day ahead. Just a short ride from our retreat center is Kenai Fjords National Park, where we'll  go on a ranger-led walk to the Exit Glacier (2.5mi | 314ft gain) overlook. We'll enjoy packed lunches out on trail, then continue down  the Harding Icefield Trail (~2mi | 1259ft). Enjoy happy hour drinks and dinner in Downtown Seward, then unwind with a restorative yoga session.

03

day 3: the one that makes us feel alive

If our retreat has an energetic summit, this is definitely it – get ready for a “bucket list” Alaskan experience kayaking in Resurrection Bay. This full-day adventure includes ocean kayaking and wildlife viewing in one of the largest coastal rainforests in the world. Before hitting the water, our guide will lead a safety talk and paddling 101 session. Then we'll spend 5-6 hours kayaking, taking breaks along the way for for a packed lunch, hot drinks, and just — being — in awe of nature's beauty. After our most active day on retreat, warm up with a wild sauna experience and s'mores night to bookend a full day out on the water.

04

day 4: the one where we go wild

Treat yourself to a slow morning to recover from the day or rise early for optional morning movement and meditation. Following breakfast and another group workshop, we'll hike Caine's Head Trail to Tonsina Point (3mi | 0ft) for a forest bathing experience that's other-worldly. We'll have lunch together at Miller's Landing, then the afternoon is choose-your-own-adventure with options like: walk the Historic Iditarod Trail, grab coffee at Resurrection Cafe, or shop local in downtown Seward (optional). For our final night on retreat, we'll gather for a group photo in the marina harbor and a dinner experience at a local hot spot. Soak in one final night with your one another sitting around the fire or beachcombing into the evening hours (optional).

05

day 5: the one where we come full circle

For our final day on retreat, we'll offer an optional sunrise meditation in the land of the Midnight Sun. Continental breakfast will be together as we engage in reflection, revisit our intentions, and share words of affirmation. Beginning where we started, we'll end by celebration all the women who made this possible week possible – one another. If Alaska has done her job this week, this won't be a goodbye, it will be a “we'll keep the lights on for you.”

OPTIONAL: For anyone who is interested in extending their experience, we can advise and connect you with local partners. Seward is just the tip of the iceberg (literally) in Alaska — there's more to explore of the last frontier.

Sarah Garner

retreat host

Hi, I'm Sarah! I'm a 20-year educator and adventurer turned founder and guide of Evergreen Explorations. I created my business – and this retreat – to be what I wish I had five years ago. When my partner started traveling more for work, I was often left without my “nature buddy." As my hiking boots gathered dust (not the good kind), I realized I could be inside alone or go outside alone. I chose the latter – I eventually started venturing out solo, building up my independence and self-reliance. Now, I have more than 15 years of experience hiking, biking, and kayaking, and am a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR). While I've come to love the solitude and freedom that solo adventures offer, I still crave the camradie of other people, especially women. At Evergreen Explorations, we believe that adventure is for everyBODY. Sometimes, we just need a safe and supportive space to feel like we belong in nature. So, here it is. For me…and for you

Let's go there – together.

can i bring a friend? What if I'm solo?

1) Absolutely! and 2) You're not alone (pun intended). This retreat is for meeting new friends, and gathering with old ones, too. We've curated this retreat with solo adventurers in mind, but we also offer a shared room option. Please note that all prices listed are per person including for those our shared room option. So, feel free to invite a friend, but be confident showing up solo.

what level of fitness is required to join?

We recommend prior experience outdoors and good physical fitness for your comfort and safety on this retreat. Our intended hikes are moderate, from 3-6 miles daily, with varying elevation gain over uneven terrain. We'll stick together on the trail and in the water, staying tuned to the group's needs (a.k.a. this is “no-drop” retreat).

what gear should i bring along with me?

We're so glad you asked. Pack hiking boots, trekking poles, and layers for any weather, plus a day pack. In Seward, Alaska, we anticipate rain, so be prepared to venture out whatever the weather. We'll share a suggested packing list aligned with the 10 Essentials in your welcome email. Yoga mats, props, and kayakinging gear are provided.

are flights included? how do i get there?

Your flight and transfers to/from Seward, Alaska are not included in your retreat booking. We'll share some options in your welcome email, but you'll be responsible for booking these travel arrangements. Though the peak tourism season in Alaska is winding down, we encourage you to book early. Once you arrive in Seward, we've got you covered.

how many people will be on this retreat?

We can accommodate up to 7 guests on this retreat based upon our accommodations and excursions. We want to keep the group small for an intimate and in-depth retreat experience together. Some of our excursions are also limited in group size (e.g. our full-day kayaking experience). Be sure to book early to secure your spot.

can i arrive late or leave early?

This retreat has been built as a group experience for a reason, which is probably why you're considering it! We ask guests to commit to the full retreat so we can all receive its full value. But, everything we do is “challenge by choice,” just let us know your needs. We do not credit guests who arrive late, leave early, or opt out of activities for any reason.

is this retreat for women only?

This retreat is open to anyone who identifies as a woman and feels called to gather with other women in nature. Women are historically underrepresented outdoors, but here, it's 100% girl-power, baby! If you're looking for a different kind of experience, we'd love to hear from you as we curate future retreats.

is there a payment plan available?

All guests must pay a non-refundable deposit in order to hold their spot on this retreat. Afterwards, you can pay your remaining balance in one full payment, or take advantage of our payment plan. Payment deadlines for each of our room options on this retreat are listed above. We will confirm your payment preference separately.

what if i have other questions for you?

That's what we're here for and the beauty of your retreat host being an Alaska insider. We're happy to chat about your specific questions or needs so you can be confident knowing what you're signing up for. Just email us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible (subject: Explore & Restore Retreat).
